Sabra & Associates has provided traffic engineering services in support of highway design projects on various on-call contracts. Sample assignments include:
MD 85 at I-270 (Fredrick County)
This project required the development of Transportation Management Plans (TMP), Traffic Signal, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT), and Signing and Marking designs. Identified major issues that may affect safety and mobility on construction and prepared a Maintenance of Red Flag summary chart. A Maintenance of Traffic Alternatives Analysis (MOTAA) was performed within the Phase 2 limits. Designed seven traffic signal plans and four phases of MOT, as well as coordinated with WTB and SHA.
US Route 29 Widening (Howard County)
Developed a Transportation Management Plan and performed Maintenance of Traffic design services for Final Review, Constructability Review, PS&E, and Advertisement submittals for the proposed widening of Northbound US 29 between Seneca Drive and MD 175. Identified major issues that may affect safety and mobility of construction and prepared a Maintenance of Red Flag Summary chart. Performed an MOTAA within the project limits to determine TMP needs. After implementation of TMP, SAI monitored, updated and revised TMP as needed. MOT plans are based on up to two major phases. Coordination with AMT, SHA and other consultants was also performed.
US 40 at MD 715 (Harford County)
Finalized the TMP, developed an MOT, and design-build documents for the US 40 at MD 715 Interchange improvement project. Prepared Design-Build contract documents, including performance specifications, and the review of plans submitted by the Design-Build Team. Reviews on behalf of SHA included traffic control device and MOT plans, the TMP document, providing review comments, and coordinating with other reviewers to ensure consistency amongst comments.
I-95 at Contee Road (Prince George’s County)
Prepared the traffic portion of the RFP for the Design-Build project. This project also included preparing the conceptual signing plans, indicative lighting limit plan, conceptual maintenance of traffic plans and conceptual traffic signal plans. Critical lane volume (CLV) analysis and Synchro were used to prepare the intersection LOS diagram under opening year and design year volume. Worked closely with MDSHA travel forecasting to analyze the corridor traffic operation and provided recommendations to highway engineer in terms of lane assignment, turn bay length and signal phasing using MD SHA queuing analysis method and left turning phasing flow chart. Project required significant coordination with MDSHA OHD, other consultant firms, the District 3-Traffic Office and Office of Traffic and Safety. Also provided Phase V service to review on-going design and construction activity.
MD 355 at Cedar Lane (Montgomery County)
Performed Phase V studies and design services for MD 355 at Cedar Lane. Services included MOT and traffic signal (ultimate and temporary) designs for this BRAC intersection improvement project. Work included preparation of the TMP document and developing the temporary signal for each MOT phase and the ultimate signal design.
