Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead the highway design including geometrics, cross sections, grading, etc.
• Development of design documents from initial concept to final design and construction documents
• Development of design computations and reports
• Prepare construction specifications and cost estimates
• Coordinate with clients and attend project review meetings
• Direct and mentor design engineers
• Coordinate with subconsultants and other departments within firm
• Manage project schedules, budget and prepare progress reports
• Prepare and obtain necessary permits
• Prepare task scope and fee proposals
• Ability to work in team environment, as well as independently
• Assist in preparation of technical proposals and pursue new design work

Knowledge, Skills & Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited University
• Active Professional Engineer License (Washington, DC Preferred)
• 5+ years of highway design experience including leadership
• Hands-on experience in highway design
• Well versed in AASHTO, DDOT, DOEE, MDOT SHA, MUTCD, and Local Municipalities design guidelines
• Proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads and GeoPak design tools
• Clear and effective communication skills
