Traffic Technician

Sabra & Associates, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Traffic Technician in our Data Collection Unit, a department of field and office staff dedicated to the collection of various types of traffic data.  The Data Collection Unit works to support the needs of various engineering and transportation planning projects, as well as serving numerous outside clients.  Traffic Technicians will assist the Data Collection Unit in conducting Average Daily Traffic counts; consisting of the deployment and retrieval of road tubes, and their associated equipment within the State of Maryland. Work may occasionally include locations within neighboring states such as Virginia, Washington D.C., Delaware and Pennsylvania, etc.

Duties of the Position:

  • Conduct Traffic counts by deploying and retrieving road tubes.
  • Perform field activities such as turning movement counts, field inventories, field verification activities, data entry (Download counters, photo labeling, etc.), and other duties as assigned.
  • Complete weekly reporting procedures in regards to safety, fleet maintenance, inventory and work details.
  • Maintain equipment, vehicles, and personal protective gear.
  • Work may occur as part of a team or individually depending on project needs.
  • This is a 40 hour per week position with occasional required overtime.

Knowledge, Skills & Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Able to pass drug screening at time of hire and randomly throughout employment.
  • Able to pass background check, after offer.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule.  Most shifts are scheduled on a weekly basis of mostly overnight shifts.  Occasionally the weekly schedule will be daytime shifts.
  • Proficient in reading maps and following driving directions.
  • Possess basic understanding of computer applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Physical demands include, but are not limited to; the ability to stand, walk or sit continuously; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; ability to move quickly in roadway environments around vehicle traffic; work outdoor in occasionally extreme temperatures.
  • Previous experience or exposure to roadway safety or construction environments a plus.


  • Salary commensurate with education level, previous experience including internships, and certifications
