Sabra & Associates, Inc. led this research project that developed a concept called EAD.Transit to improve the mobility and sustainability of transit operations. EAD.Transit correlates the real-time location and route of a transit vehicle with real-time and predicted signal phasing and timing (SPaT) information from traffic signals, and communicates Eco-Approach and Departure (EAD) information to transit vehicles through onboard Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) to reduce or eliminate stops at traffic signals, and minimize time spent accelerating and decelerating to provide a smooth ride.
