SAI, a Mead & Hunt Company, is responsible for the design of two new bridges, the design of every retaining wall and every culvert extension along the proposed Phase 1 of the Corridor Cities Transitway (CCT) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) alignment. Phase 1 of the CCT will travel along the I-270 corridor connecting the Shady Grove Metrorail Station in Rockville to the MARC Metropolitan Grove Station with the planned future Phase 2 continuing on to COMSAT, just south of Clarksburg, MD in Montgomery County.
CCT Bridge over I-270
SAI, a Mead & Hunt Company, is designing the foundations, substructure and superstructure of a new 10-span CCT bridge. This proposed bridge will carry the CCT over Shady Grove and then continue over I-270. The bridge will include a hiker/biker trail as well as the CCT buSAI, a Mead & Hunt Company,y lanes.
Muddy Branch Bridge
SAI, a Mead & Hunt Company, is designing the foundations, substructure and superstructure of a new 3-span CCT bridge. This proposed bridge will carry the CCT over the Muddy Branch along the southern edge of the existing Great Seneca Highway Bridge over the Muddy Branch and be designed to blend in with the existing structure. The existing bridge that carries Great Seneca Highway over Muddy Branch was constructed in the late 1980s by Montgomery County.
SAI, a Mead & Hunt Company, is designing 26 new CCT retaining walls. The CCT alignment will utilize many retaining wall types in order to minimize impacts to adjacent properties in a combination of cut and fill conditions.
Drainage Structures Extensions
SAI, a Mead & Hunt Company, is designing five culvert extensions under the proposed CCT alignment. These extensions are being designed for existing small structures of various materials including corrugated metal, concrete box and precast arch.
